Copyright

Perhaps you may have heard that famous saying.........

“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”

However, when it comes to copyright infringement, we are not amused.

Perhaps you’re not aware of what constitutes material covered by copyright law.  Maybe you do but mistakenly think changing a word or two or shuffling a paragraph around with another makes the difference.

We urge you to visit www.whatiscopyright.org to help clear up any misconceptions.

Please feel free to link to our pages or save any of the web site pages in whole for your own personal off line viewing. Copy & save of individual portions, text or image for personal, business or other use without express written permission of D & D Imaging will be considered an infringement of copyrights. We also request that you do not use our images for display on your web site by directly linking to them.

We’re not ogres here.  We simply believe in what is fair and honest and copying our original material is neither. Many hours of work went in to creating this site and through the years it has evolved into what it is today. Please respect that.

Some of our recent findings of copyright infringement, (For obvious reasons we won’t provide a hyperlink to these):

Mille Lacs Imaging in Onamia, MN, “millelacsimaging dot com” - Copied more or less word for word most of the film & slide scanning information pages and FAQs including price charts and our file size charts.  They have graciously agreed to take down their web site until they can make the changes. Thank you Mille Lacs Imaging for understanding our position!

Thomas Ryan Photos in Council Bluffs, IA,  “thomasryanphotos dot com” carries a few paragraphs off our film and slide scanning page and prices page on his slide services page.  We’ve contacted Mr. Ryan about this but have yet to hear back. Perhaps it was his web design firm Council Bluffs Online, LLC that was ultimately to blame.  Either way, it needs to be corrected.

Memory Keepers out of Naperville, IL, “memorykeepersonline dot com” got into the act too on their 35mm to DVD and CD FAQ page.  Again, much information from our film and slide scanning information page as well as our FAQs and file size charts.  Much like the previous, perhaps it was their web design firm Universal Expressions, Chicago, IL who was ultimately to blame (although they stake claim on their home page to provide unique original designs).  Either way, we’ve contacted both parties involved in this and requested we be contacted in this matter.

You might wonder how we find these.  It’s always easy, especially in the case of Dave’s Digital Studio, “davesdigitalstudio dot com”   We found Dave when he copied our DVD slide show FAQs for his questions page.  In doing so, he also copied a hyperlink to our DVD slide show trial disk so when people would click on ordering the trial disk they actually came to our web site and in turn that link through appeared in our web statistic reports.  Dave gets the “DUH” award. Dave was gracious enough to remove the information from his page some months ago although we see he still hasn’t come up with any original material for that page yet. Otherwise we simply enter some text, word for word in quotation marks, from our web site into any search engine and viola. We also have friends and business associates that watch out for us so one way or another, eventually we will find you.
